Victoria
Propeller Shorts - Supporting the professional development of emerging screen talent is fundamental to a viable Victorian screen industry. Emerging filmmakers can apply for production funding for original and innovative short narrative drama, documentary or animation projects that will hone their creative and technical skills and help to ‘propel’ them into long-form work.
Production Investment - We recognise that we can provide minor investment in original, marketable, quality film, television and digital media productions that can attract audiences in Australia and around the world. Through this we aim to broaden the scope and viability of productions that will ultimately lead to a sustainable Victorian industry capable of long term growth.
Pilot for TV or Digital Media broadcast - This program seeks to stimulate Victorian television and digital media broadcast production by providing Producers with the opportunity to create an example of how their project might be realised. We’ll provide funds to experienced teams with innovative and compelling ideas for adult or children’s drama and/ or narrative comedy.
Attachment to a Production - Attachments provide an opportunity for emerging screen industry personnel to increase their skills through practical on-the-job training on a film or television production.
Internship with a Company - Provides funding to film, television and digital media companies with a substantial track record to offer an intern a significant professional development opportunity.
International Fellowships - A new program that enables highly experienced Victorian practitioners to maximise skills and gain first hand exposure to the global film, television and digital media industries. A grant of up to $25,000 will be available for a three month international placement.
International Festival Attendance - Provides a grant to Victorian directors and producers to attend festivals where their project/s have been invited to an approved festival.
International Market Attendance - Producers can apply to attend an approved international market to seek sales, marketing and financing opportunities for their projects and enables Producers to increase their international profile and networks.
Mentorships - Mentorship program where practitioners can apply to engage a highly experienced mentor to help with creative, technical or business elements of a project, or to help navigate an international market. This program is only available in conjunction with our project development and market attendance programs.
NSW
Development Grants - Development Assistance is provided to assist projects to reach the stage where they are ready to attract production finance. Development assistance takes the form of an investment which is repaid with interest when a project goes into production. Funding is available for the following types of projects: Feature Films, Television Series and Telemovies, Documentary — one off and series, Animation — one off, pilot and series.
FILM & TV INDUSTRY ATTRACTION FUND (FIAF) - The New South Wales Government offers an incentive to “footloose” productions interested in filming in New South Wales, through its Film and TV Industry Attraction Fund. The fund aims to increase the state’s market share of film and television production by providing a rebate to approved productions.
REGIONAL FILMING FUND (RFF) - The NSW Regional Filming Fund (RFF) provides grants for filmmakers wishing to film for a week or more in regional New South Wales. Assistance will be considered for amounts up to 35% of the budgeted costs of filming in regional NSW, up to $100,000 per production. The fund is only available to qualified Australian productions and official co-productions that have a majority production spend in New South Wales.
South Australia
Screen Culture Organisation Funding - Funding is provided to organisations that support and develop screen culture in South Australia in line with the SAFC’s mission statement.
Attachment Scheme - The Attachment Scheme assists individuals with relevant experience in film or television production, to move to a higher level in their professions by obtaining on the job experience in the industry.
Digital Media Attachment Scheme - The Digital Media Attachment Scheme assists individuals who have experience in digital media or traditional film, television and documentary production to move to a higher level in their professions through training in the digital media industry.
Festival and Awards Grants (Traditional & Digital Media) - Festival and Awards Grants funding allows South Australian filmmakers and digital media practitioners to travel to key festivals and interstate award ceremonies where they are being recognised for their work.
Practitioner Development Funding - Practitioner Development (Traditional & Digital Media) funding provides support for professional and career development for film, television, documentary and digital media practitioners.
Digital Media Production Investment - The SAFC will consider production investment in prototypes or in outstanding interactive digital media projects.
Educational Content Fund - The Educational Content Fund (ECF) funds the production of educational, sponsored and government related projects across all platforms.
Production Investment - Production Investment funding supports the production of projects that are creative and original, possess overall appeal to diverse audiences.
Revolving Film Fund - The SAFC administers a $3 million revolving loan fund to sustain and increase film and television production in South Australia.
SAFC Short Film Fund - The SAFC Short Film Fund offers South Australia’s filmmakers the opportunity to develop their skills as a way of progressing towards long form feature film, television drama and documentary.
Business Travel (Traditional & Digital Media) - Business Travel funding is to allow film, television and interactive digital media producers to travel to international and national markets and appropriate meetings to attract market place finance for a project or slate of projects in order to stimulate feature film, television drama, documentary and digital media production in South Australia.
Digital Media Project Development - The Digital Media Project Development program supports the development of outstanding interactive digital media projects.
Producer Business Development - The aim of Producer Business Development Funding is to stimulate feature film, television drama and documentary production in South Australia by South Australian producers.
Script and Project Development - Script and Project Development aims to support the development of outstanding, original and creative Australian film and television projects.
