Don Banks music award – music – The Don Banks music award is to publicly honour a senior artist of high distinction who has made an outstanding and sustained contribution to music in Australia.

Residencies – music – Two residencies – the ABC national radiophonic residency and Cite Internationale des Arts residency – will offered by the music board to take place in 2009.

International pathways – music – International pathways supports international touring by Australian musicians performing predominantly original Australian music.

New work – music – New work grants support one-off projects that involve the creation or development of music, new musical material or media arts projects.

Presentation and promotion – music – Presentation and promotion grants support one-off projects that present, publish, distribute and/or market quality music of any style.

Skills and arts development – music – Skills and arts development grants support skills development for professional artists and artsworkers.

Arts Victoria

Arts Development – Categories: 1. Creation – Support for any stage in the creative development of new work. Funding is available from $4,000 to $20,000. 2. Presentation – Support for the initial public presentation of a new Victorian work or innovative reinterpretation of an existing work. Funding is available from $5,000 to $30,000.

Victoria Rocks – Victoria Rocks is a new program that provides funding to support the creative growth and viability of the Victorian music industry. Victoria Rocks encompasses all genres of contemporary music and is open to artists at various career stages. Victoria Rocks aims to: Equip Victorian musicians to face the challenges of a rapidly changing era in the music industry, encourage artists to explore new initiatives and strategies to connect their music with audiences and support industry bodies that provide education and professional development to Victorian artists.

Arts NSW

Music Program – Grants under this program are intended to support the appreciation and development of music in New South Wales across all genres of new, classical, popular and independent music.

Arts SA

Music Grants – For the purposes of Arts SA funding music includes: cabaret, choral music, classical music (from early music to the 21st century, Western and non-Western), community music and projects incorporating community cultural development practices, composition, folk, improvisation, performance of traditional or contemporary music by Australian and Torres Strait Islander musicians, jazz, multicultural music, opera and music theatre, recording and broadcasting, songwriting and music projects incorporating new media.

Hilltop Hoods Initiative – You must be an emerging South Australian based hip-hop artist or group without a professional release.

Contemporary music – Touring, recording and marketing grants for musicians.

Arts QLD

Development and Presentation grants – Development and Presentation grants are open to individual artists, collectives and not-for-profit organisations for initiatives including new work, exhibitions, productions, industry development and cultural engagement activities.

Grant McLennan Memorial Fellowship – a $20,000 annual fellowship to a Queensland contemporary songwriter.

Billy Thorpe Scholarship – a $10,000 annual scholarship for an aspiring Queensland musician to honour the legacy of musician Billy Thorpe.

Arts WA

Contemporary Music Program – Now in its fourth year, the Contemporary Music Grants Program continues to contribute to the growth of a vibrant, diverse and profitable contemporary music industry. The Program will provide $850,000 per year over the next four years.

Arts ACT

ACT Arts Fund – The ACT Arts Fund is one of the main ways the ACT Government provides direct support to the arts. Applications are invited from all artists, groups and organisations for projects or programs of activity in any art form that support, promote, present, develop or provide access to high-quality arts in the ACT.

Arts Tasmania

TAS Arts Funding for Individuals – The Assistance to Individuals Program supports individuals, partnerships, and other unincorporated bodies working in any artform in the process of achieving a higher level of practice.

Arts NT

NT Arts Grants Program – The Arts Grants Program offers artists, arts organisations and the Northern Territory community access to support initiatives that further the vision: expressing and showcasing Northern Territory identity through arts and culture.
