CONTEMPORARY ART PRIZE LEBANESE PAKISTANI ARTISTS ART EVENTS
The Sharjah Biennial Prize has been honouring artists and creatives from Asia and beyond since its foundation in 1993. In 2011, the $30,000 total prize money has been awarded to four visual artists, three from Asia, and a filmmaker. We highlight the Asian winners below.
Imran Qureshi
The Sharjah Biennial Prize for 2011 went to Pakistani miniaturist Imran Qureshi for Blessings Upon the Land of my Love (2011), “a site-specific work conversing with the culture, history, and political realities of the region,” the Sharjah Art Foundation press release states.

Jalal Toufic
A Special Mention as “‘philosopher, artist, and thinker’ of note” went to Lebanese writer and video artist Jalal Toufic.

Rayyane Tabet
Artist Rayyane Tabet (click here or here for a biography), also Lebanese, was named Best Emering Artist for his installation Home on Neutral Ground (2011).
