Hey Perth, we’re having a pop-up shop!

We would like to invite you to a garage sale with a twist!

Kell from Blackcurrant Photography, in conjunction with Danika (Nika) from Artemiss Creations would like to invite you to a special pre-Christmas sale day.

You will have the opportunity to view our work in person, place orders for custom made pieces and shop for pretty, artistic gifts without the hassle of the shopping centres.

Kell specialises in nature photography featuring our beautiful and unique Australian flora. She will have samples of her ‘made to order’ work on display (such as her photo shirts, notebooks and matted prints), as well as photo prints, greeting cards and shimmering photo jewellery for you to purchase on the day.

Danika is an artist and graphic designer. Her colourful critters and characters adorn a range of products such as cotton totes, magnets, fine art prints and candles. She also has a great range of greeting cards and gift tags ready for your Christmas gifts.

Details:

Friday 2nd December
11am -1pm

Our shop is only able to take cash payments, though we strongly recommend those of you with smart phones download the Paypal app as well, in case you wish to place an order or get a little carried away with the Christmas cheer! =)

Our event will be located at a private residence in Cloverdale (Belmont area). If you’d like to bring your family to shop with you, please keep watch and be mindful of delicate items in and around our pop-up shop (home!).

If you wish to attend, please phone Kell on 0422 871 240 or email info@blackcurrantphotography.com.au and she will give you the address and details on where to park or how to get to us by bus. We will need your name, how many people you’re bringing, and either an email address or contact phone number in case we need to get in touch.

Our space for this event is limited to 50 people, so please book your spot quickly (before Wednesday 30th) or pass on the details to a friend that may be interested.

We hope to see you soon!

Nika and Kell met on Twitter but first met in person at a Christmas market in 2010. We thought this was a nice way to celebrate the anniversary of the start of a beautiful and creative friendship. =)

Emerging Artist Award – Can you help?

CAN YOU HELP?

I’d like to enter one of my photographs in the City of South Perth Emerging Artist Awards. In order to do this, I’d have to deliver a CD with a jpg of the artwork on it by 5pm this Friday the 30th.

In order to enter, artists choose 1 piece of artwork/photography (that’s a hard decision!) and pay $20 to enter. If  your work is selected in the week 7-11 Oct then you have to get it printed & displayed for the 21st Oct. Works are displayed in the South Perth Civic Centre and those exhibited must mark their work for sale.

The major attraction for me is that having my work on display at the civic centre gives me an opportunity to show my work to a fine art-loving (and buying) pocket of Perth that may not otherwise see it online.

The hiccup in this plan is that I don’t currently have the money needed to enter. Therefore I’m hoping to raise ~$100 to enter the competition and get my piece printed for display if selected. If I’m not selected then I would like to use the funds raised to put towards supplies and advertising for Blackcurrant Photography.

I know it’s a big ask, but if you’re able to donate a little towards this, it would be greatly appreciated. There is a Paypal donate button on the sidebar of my site at www.blackcurrantphotography.com.au

Alternatively, you may like to make a purchase from one of my online stores…though please be aware that sadly my Redbubble store would not pay me in time for entering these awards (however, I’m very happy and grateful for your custom!).

The images I’m trying to narrow my entry down to are -

The Lament

Thanks SO much for your consideration.
Kind regards, Kell =)

Get It While It’s Hot

As prices for my work have risen sharply over the past decade, I have tried to ensure that a small portion of my output was affordable to as many people as possible. Every year, for the past five years, I have offered free, downloadable, unlimited edition prints based on pastel, watercolour, or ink drawings, which I’ve been happy to sign if they’re sent to my studio. I have also sold smaller, one-off watercolors and drawings at prices between $A250 and $1,000.

More recently, I have released three photographic prints, including a ‘miniature’ version of one of my Lake Eyre studies – a signed and numbered edition of 500 was offered free to readers of this blog – and Banned, an image of another female artist and me in a sexual clinch that provoked Facebook to remove my original presence there. Banned was printed 4″ x 2.66″ on 6″ x 4″ matt paper, and each of the edition of 750 was sold for just $A20, including postage. At the end of 2010, friends, collectors, press and fellow artists were sent New Year, another free edition of 1,000 signed but numberless prints of similar dimensions to Banned.

I am offering one more edition of small photographic prints, this time in monochrome. Cocksure, above, will be limited to just 100 matt, digital R-prints, 4″ x 2.66″ on 6″ x 4″. Each will be signed and numbered and because of the relatively small edition, will be priced at $A100, including postage. Payment will be accepted via PayPal or bank transfer. To order, simply email your name and address, and quantity to my studio and an assistant will respond with an invoice and payment instructions: dooneystudio@gol.com
